Frequently asked questions
The night begins with a historic tour of the venue to allow you familiarity with the location. Paranormal reports are told during the tour, but specific phenomena are withheld to avoid suggestive and confirmation bias. We want you to experience something unique and personal, not to have you believe that you experienced something just because we told you it happens!
After the tour, you will be introduced to the equipment we offer, with explanations on how it works, how to operate it, and its potential drawbacks to maintain integrity.
Upon our equipment introduction, you are free to explore the night your way. You can choose equipment and wander off into the building alone or choose to stick with the OPE team and investigate with professionals.
At the end of our night, you will return all equipment to the OPE team. Once all equipment has been accounted for, the investigation will have officially ended, and you'll return home, hopefully having experienced something you cannot explain!
We provide all the ghost hunting essentials, including flashlights, so you don't need to bring anything besides the normal everyday items. (Phone, wallet, chargers, etc.) Snacks and drinks are recommended to keep in break areas.
Absolutely no drugs or alcohol or ritualistic or summoning items (Ouija boards, incense, etc.) will be tolerated on venue premises.
Nope! Whether it's your first time or your hundredth, we have the tools and the knowledge to customize your hunt that suits your experience level. Beginners, professionals, and all those in between are welcome!
Essentially everything you've seen on TV, aside from the tools we believe do not provide an authentic experience. The list includes but isn't inherently limited to:
K2 Meters
Spirit Boxes
REM Pods
Thermal Camera
Mel-Meter
Dowsing Rods
Flux 2 Response Device
Tracer 2 Light Wire
Boo Buddy
Laser Grids
Parascope
Digital Recorders
Maglites
Absolutely! As long as it's legal and not violating our policies you are welcome to bring whatever equipment you'd like. Cameras, audio recorders and other tools are encouraged. You do assume the risk in bringing your own equipment. OPE is not responsible for lost or damaged personal equipment.
Closed toed shoes and comfortable clothing you can move in. Many historic locations are not heated, so layers are heavily recommended on cooler nights.
Every location we offer has history and documented paranormal experiences, but ghosts do not work on a schedule. We cannot guarantee activity, but we can guarantee an authentic investigation with professional guidance.
That's perfectly okay and we respect that belief! In return it is expected that you respect ours. Guests who are found to be outwardly rude and making fun of others trying to enjoy the event, or antagonizing spirits because they don't believe will be removed from the event without refund.
We welcome those skeptics who just want to explore a bit of history, or the partner who got drug along because their other half is super into it.
Accessibility varies by location. Many historic sites are unfortunately not ADA compliant. Please reach out through our contact form to see if we believe your desired venue would still provide a thorough experience.
